The Irish Times Launch Chefs Of Ireland
23rd of April 2013: The Irish Times today launched a very exciting new “foodie” project in response to research they conducted recently with their readers. The research found, overwhelmingly, that their readers love to read about food more than any other topic. They also found that 69% prefer to prepare their meals from scratch and 65% enjoy trying out new recipes.
In response to this research, they developed the concept “Chefs of Ireland” where they invited twenty well known Irish Chefs to submit one of their “signature” recipes. Each recipe will be featured within the newspaper from the 27th of April 2013.
The recipes will be in A5 “collectable” format made to ensure that they can withstand the pressures of the kitchen. The recipe methods are designed to suit all levels and capabilities.
Taking part in the project are top Chefs such as Richard Corrigan, Oliver Dunne, Ross Lewis, Neven Maguire, Domini Kemp, Derry Clarke, Martijn Kajuiter, Kevin Hui, Rachel Allen, Eamonn O’Reilly, Sean Smith, Kevin Dundon, Denis Cotter, Catherine Fulvio, Donal Skehan, Martin Shanahan, Patrick Guilbaud, Kevin Thornton, Gary O’Hanlon and Taweesak Trakoolwattana.
Some examples of the “signature” dishes being featured are “Leg of lamb with Rosemary and Lavender” from Richard Corrigan, “Sticky Toffee Banana Puds” from Donal Skehan and “Roast cutlet of veal with gremolata” from Derry Clarke.
Speaking at the launch Kevin Thornton said “I was delighted to be asked to take part in this project which I believe is a wonderful concept from The Irish Times. Readers will be given a unique opportunity to collect signature recipes from some of Ireland’s top Chefs and enjoy creating them in their own kitchen for their friends and family,” he said.
Katie Molony, Marketing Manager of The Irish Times said “ We are delighted to be collaborating with top Chefs from restaurants across the country and delivering a unique initiative like this to our readers that we absolutely know will be so welcomed and loved, ” she said.
