Royal Celebrations at SABA

Posted on: May 16 2011

To celebrate the visit of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to Ireland, we are rolling out the red carpet. We have created a new cocktail called “The Monarch Martini”, which has royal connections with Bombay Sapphire Gin (Queen Victoria’s photo is on the bottle), and Chambord, a black raspberry liquor which specially created for Louis XIV on his visit to Chateau de Chambord in the late 17th Century (it has the French Royal Crown on the bottle).

We will also have two typically great British institutions with the Pimms Cup cocktail and strawberries and cream being served all week. The strawberries are a new season from Pat Barrett’s farm in Ballyboughal, Co. Dublin.

We know that the Queen of Thailand loves Panang Lobster, so this is our special for the week to welcome Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 11. It’s delicious chargrilled lobster tail with asparagus, Panang curry sauce and served with pineapple fried rice.

Any customer who presents their British passport or driving license will receive one free Monarch Martini between Tuesday 17th to Saturday 21st May.

Sanook.

If you would like to make the cocktails at home:

Pimms Cup

This is a built cocktail which means you put the ice and fruit in first; orange slice, lemon slice, lime slice and grapes. Then, pour over the Pimms 50ml and lemonade100ml. Gently stir and garnish with cucumber skin and mint leaf.

Put 35ml Bombay Sapphire gin, 17.5ml St Germain Elderflower Liqueur, 17.5ml fresh lemon juice, 17.5ml sugar syrup into a shaker with ice. Shake it with all you got. Double strain into a chilled martini glass. Add a dash of Chambord (black raspberry liqueur) and add a mint leaf to garnish.
