Thank You To Everyone Who Supported Our Recent Fundraising Efforts for Haiti

SABA recently presented Haven with a cheque for €5,000 which was raised by the diners and staff. For more information on The Haven Partnership, please go to www.havenpartnership.com

“A huge thank you to the staff and customers at SABA for all of their fundraising efforts on behalf of Haven.  As a result of your generous donations, which totalled a whopping  €5,000/$6360 Haven is now able to furnish 16 shelters that the charity is building in settlements across the city.

Haven has committed to building 20 community shelters in 20 different campsites across Port Au Prince.  These shelters are approximately 42 square meters in size.  The basic structure consists of a timber frame set into a concrete base and floor, with a dual pitched roof,  with corrugated iron roofing.  The timber frames are wrapped in a membrane to make them waterproof. Once these shelters have been completed and are ready for use, Haven seeks to allocate furnishings to the value of $400/€315, making the shelter so that it is fit for use.   A wish list of furnishings is prepared by the community through Haven’s Community Development Workers.  The contents of this list will depend on how the community wish to use the structure.  Very often shelters are turned in a school or creche, a clinic, or as a meeting place for community leaders.  Haven will then purchase the wish list and hand them over to the community for their own use.

Haven is very grateful to all at SABA for their continued support of our relief efforts both before and after the earthquake, every contribution made is greatly appreciated, by the team and most importantly by our beneficiaries in Haiti.”
