Get in the mood with a Pimms Cup cocktail at SABA during the Wimbledon tournament.

To celebrate Wimbledon; the quintessential of British traditions we are serving the “Pimms Cup” cocktail for the duration of the tournament. It’s a really refreshing and delicious cocktail and originates back from the early 1800’s when London’s dandiest city gents loved to partake in oysters and gin. But with its bitter tang, gin was knocked back, not savoured. Enter shellfish-monger James Pimm and his famous central London ‘Oyster Bar’ in 1823. Patrons soon swallowed oysters with the PIMM’S ‘house cup’. Flavoured with liqueurs and fruit extract, this more palatable long drink ‘gin-sling’ kick-started the great British PIMM’S story.

Recipe

Place fresh summer fruits of your choice in a long glass, pour 50 mls of Pimm’s No 1 over ice and top with lemonade. Garnish with mint, fresh cucumber and a lemon twist. Try it at home at your next barbeque or try it in Saba for €7.95.
